Since then the tournament format is organized depending on the ICC schedule nearby.

ASIA CUP 2023 HOSTING RIGHTS

Pakistan, which was initially selected to host the Asia Cup 2023, had to abandon its hosting
rights due to security concerns raised by the BCCI, As a result, the ICC
decided to adopt a hybrid model for the tournament, with matches now set to be held in both
Sri Lanka and Pakistan. This decision aims to ensure the safety and successful organization
of the event.

The ICC’s decision to have a hybrid model for Asia Cup 2023, made Pakistan unhappy, and
there were rumors of their team possibly pulling out of the tournament.

Zaka Ashraf PCB chairman later confirmed that despite being unhappy with the hybrid
model, Pakistan will not pull out of Asia Cup 2023.

Pakistan will host four matches, while Sri Lanka’s Kandy and Colombo will host nine other
games, including the final, in the Asia Cup 2023.

Initially, Pakistan was scheduled to host four matches in one city. But, after a new PCB administration, led by Chairman Zaka Ashraf, took charge this month, they added Multan as a second venue.
