The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday released the schedule for the Asia Cup
2023, featuring the participating teams, venues, and match dates. The Asia Cup is scheduled
to take place from 30th August to 17th September.
India vs Pakistan will lock horns head to head on 2nd September at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy, Sri Lanka.

The tournament will be 50-over ODI matches, taking place at renowned international venues.
Asia Cup is a white ball cricket tournament where the cricket teams from Asia compete against each other. The first edition of the Asia Cup was played in the year 1984 in the 50-over format. In 2016 the tournament was played in the T20I format for the first time.
Since then the tournament format is organized depending on the ICC schedule nearby.
ASIA CUP 2023 HOSTING RIGHTS
Pakistan, which was initially selected to host the Asia Cup 2023, had to abandon its hosting
rights due to security concerns raised by the BCCI, As a result, the ICC
decided to adopt a hybrid model for the tournament, with matches now set to be held in both
Sri Lanka and Pakistan. This decision aims to ensure the safety and successful organization
of the event.
The ICC’s decision to have a hybrid model for Asia Cup 2023, made Pakistan unhappy, and
there were rumors of their team possibly pulling out of the tournament.
Zaka Ashraf PCB chairman later confirmed that despite being unhappy with the hybrid
model, Pakistan will not pull out of Asia Cup 2023.
Pakistan will host four matches, while Sri Lanka’s Kandy and Colombo will host nine other
games, including the final, in the Asia Cup 2023.
Initially, Pakistan was scheduled to host four matches in one city. But, after a new PCB administration, led by Chairman Zaka Ashraf, took charge this month, they added Multan as a second venue.
NEPAL’S DEBUT IN ASIA CUP 2023
Nepal created history by securing a debut spot in the Asia Cup 2023. Nepal will make its
debut in the Asia Cup 2023, having secured a spot in the tournament by winning the ACC
Men’s Premier Cup.
Nepal’s historic seven-wicket victory against UAE in the championship match, led by
Gulshan Kumar Jha’s impressive innings of 67 runs from 84 deliveries, secured their first-ever qualification for the Asia Cup. Nepal’s first match in the Asia Cup 2023 will be against
Pakistan on August 30 in Multan.

The Asia Cup 2023 will take place in two stages first the group stage followed by the super four.
In the group stages the top two teams from the two groups will qualify for the super fours. The top two teams from the Super Four stage will then fight for the Crown of Asia.

The final of the Asia Cup 2023 will be held on the 17th of September (Sunday) at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS), Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The 18th of September is kept as the Reserve day for the Final of Asia Cup 2023. In case of any interruption in the playing day, the reserve day will be used to get the result.
